Nachdem wir uns zunächst wenig spezialisiert hatten und die Fundstellen mehr nach Erreichbarkeit statt nach Mineralart auswählten, hat sich im Laufe der Zeit besonders auch durch das Erlöschen von vielen Fundstellen das Sammeln von Achaten zu einem Schwerpunkt entwickelt. Zwar sammeln wir auch heute nicht ausschließlich Achat, dennoch lieben wir das Bestaunen von pulverigen Überzügen nicht besonders. Kristallflächen sollten unter dem Stereomikroskop schon zu erkennen sein. Auf dieser site wollen wir mit einigen Achaten einen Ausschnitt aus unserer Mineraliensammlung präsentieren.
Wie viele Achatsammler, so fanden auch wir unsere ersten Achate im Steinbruch Juchem/Fischbachtal. Das Sammelgebiet dehnte sich mehr und mehr aus auf den gesamten Saar-Naheraum, Rheinhessen, Niederrhein, Thüringen und Sachsen. Dabei besuchen wir nicht nur Steinbrüche, sondern auch abgeerntete Äcker und Kiesgruben. Uns bereitet ein selbst gefundener Achat wesentlich mehr Freude als ein käuflich erworbenes Stück, dennoch haben wir zur Vervollständigung der Sammlung insbesondere ausländische Stücke zugekauft. Auf diesen Seiten zeigen wir eine Auswahl von inländischen Funden.
